Looking for Mt. Pleasant People, Thoughts on Baseball in Iowa

Hi, over at Royals Review I've profiled Mt. Pleasant, which happens to be, strangely enough, a KC Royals Radio affiliate.

While I know Mt. P is in the heart of Hawkeye Country, I figured there was a good chance that there are also some Clone fans around from there.

My question is, are there any Royals fans actually in the Mt. Pleasant/Henry County area? I live in Iowa City, and it seems like this part of the state is strong Cubs country, with the Cardinals running a distant second.

The Royals also are affiliated with the Burlington Bees, which may mean something, or, may not.

I'd love to hear some local feedback. And feedback about IOwa State? Is the campus pretty much behind the Cubs?

  • Can't speak for Mt. Pleasant (none / 0)

Been there dozens of times, never checked out the baseball scene.

I'd say the campus is pretty pro Cubs. Twins are definitely second, then probably followed by the Cards and both Sox.

  • KC fans at ISU (none / 0)

I was at ISU during the Tony Pena "glory year" and you would see a few more KC hats and shirts than usual but as a rule we were a somewhat invisible minority.

The Royals played the Twins in the afternoon before the ISU-FSU football game at Arrowhead and most of the ISU fans there were cheering for the Twins.  My group of 5 at the game included 2 Twins fans, 2 Cubs fans, and me as the lone Royals fan.
