Iowa State Offers Tate Forcier, Much Like Everyone ElseThu May 08, 2008 at 06:06:01 PM EDTIowa State has offered a scholarship to Robert "Tate" Forcier, one of the more sought after quarterback prospects in the West. This normally wouldn't be a big deal, but Tate is kind of unique - he's got his own website chronicling his recruitment. You can log on and see the actual scholarship offer from Coach Chizik, as well as numerous other head football coaches. ISU is going up against schools such as LSU, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska and a host of others for Forcier. While ISU would be considered a longshot for Forcier, let's keep an eye out on the possible recruitment. ISU Gets First Football CommitMon May 05, 2008 at 10:04:57 PM EDTVia CF. Kyle Lichtenberg, 6-6, 250 pound OL out of Bettendorf becomes ISU's first 09 football commit. Cyclone Graduate Assistant ArrestedFri May 02, 2008 at 07:04:36 PM EDT
I'd be quite surprised if Mr. White is with the team to begin the season....
Regents Approve Stadium RenderingsThu May 01, 2008 at 07:48:10 PM EDT![]() Hot. A couple offseasons from now, Jack Trice will get a whole new look. Is Daniyal Robinson the New Assistant MBB Coach?Wed Apr 30, 2008 at 10:57:56 PM EDTStrong rumors that Daniyal Robinson of UALR, former Indian Hills player, will likely be Jean Prioleau's replacement on the ISU staff. He also coached at Illinois State. Don't know a whole lot about him at this time. Jean Prioleau Leaves ISUWed Apr 30, 2008 at 02:02:43 PM EDTAssistant coach Jean Prioleau made the call the other day to leave ISU for a job as an associate head coach for Texas Christian. In what seems like a lateral move at best (future coaching aspirations are a consideration), Iowa State loses one of their primary recruiters and more personable assistant coaches. The primary bit of concern here is that Pre was the point man for Ames super prospect Harrison Barnes, son of Ron Harris and the subject of affection for many Cyclone fans. He was also the guy that helped being Wes Johnson to Ames. It's yet to be seen how this will affect the status of Barnes' recruitment, but the two were very close. We can debate whether or not Jean was trying to posture himself for a head job (which I'm sure he was), or whether he took a step down, but I think it's going to be much more interesting trying to figure out his replacement. McDermott apparently has some names in mind. Will one of those be Cyclone grad assistant Erik Crawford? He's got a high basketball IQ, but no one knows if he can recruit. I have no doubt, though, that McDermott wants to hire someone he's known a while. I'd be surprised if he doesn't hire someone with a personal connection. I like Crawford, but part of me will still be disappointed if its a good ol' boys hire. Big 12 RoundtableTue Apr 29, 2008 at 01:57:51 PM EDTOkay, so I'm going to make some time for this. Matt at Crimson and Cream Machine put up a spring roundtable, so here are my answers.... 1. Who are some of the new faces that emerged in the spring who could be serious playmakers for your team this fall?
What, you mean Bo Williams? I don't know if we saw any real standout performances that came out of nowhere during the Spring. I did see some nice play out of Chris Singleton, and there is hope that he could team up with Allen Bell to form a talented cornerback duo. Both guys ooze with potential, but both need to figure out a way to get some big plays going. 2. What is your biggest concern following the spring?
The offense looked bad during the spring game, but apparently had been doing well during the previous practices. The inside defensive line and the outside linebackers till worry me because I don't know what we have there. That and special teams. Always special teams. 3. Any major changes (philosophy, coaching or personnel) that you are concerned about?
Not a whole lot of turnover. I'm interested to see how integrating the no-huddle into our offense will work, especially in loud road environments. The integration of the option into the offense will also probably provide for some early mishaps. 4. Looking over the 2008 schedule which home and away game are you most concerned about?
As far as home games go, the one that concerns me the most is Kent State, if for no other reason than it will set the early tone for the season. We really should handle SDSU, but a close game or loss to Kent State would likely spell bad news, while a big win could build momentum. On the road, the UNLV game has the same effect. We could legitimately be 3-0 or 1-2 heading into Las Vegas. Gene Chizik may not even have a road win yet. The Rebs are still pissed about something, I think. The nonconference slate is very important this year if we're legitimately thinking postseason. 5. Time for your way too early predictions (Yes, you can change them in August). Rank how you see your division finishing up this coming season.
Mizzou is clearly the class of the North. Colorado could as easily finish in second or fifth. They were a weird team last year. Kansas State certainly didn't look impressive last year...

So, we went ahead and picked Doug Dedrick as our left tackle for Who's Your Starter. Problem is, he was our starting right tackle during the Spring Game. So, with a total lack of other stuff to write about, I figured I'd redo this again with the two deeps from the Spring Game, plus Haughton. Hulbert: 6-7, 287, So.
We had heard reports that Hulbert had pressed Dedrick in practice, and apparently he did well enough to earn a starting spot in the spring game. Baysinger is one of the top redshirt freshmen on the team, and will probably be Dedrick's eventual replacement. Haughton is a guy that was recruited heavily, but had some school issues. So, who's your pick? The hard charging sophomore that seems to be impressing the coaches? The scout team standout? Or the highly touted recruit with a Big 12 body as a freshman? Cyclones and the DraftSat Apr 26, 2008 at 04:54:41 PM EDTI'm not really expecting any Staters to go today. I've seen mock drafts with Rubin as high as the San Francisco pick in the second round, but smart money has him going around the fourth round. The other potential draftees include Todd Blythe (5-7th round) and Alvin Bowen (5-7 round). I'll go out on a limb and say one of them gets picked. Stuff I've been reading has a destination like Buffalo for Blythe and Indianapolis for Bowen. Don't see Bret Meyer getting picked up. Anyways, I thought I'd also use this space to post a couple of YouTube videos from the Spring Game. Bo Williams Singleton with a big hit
